Of course no one would choose to experience these headaches again to replace a yard hydrant and that is why we are introducing to you Yard Hydrant Made Easy. The product that turns a dreaded project into a project that you don't mind to do. For those of you who have fought the fustration of digging up and replacing a yard hydrant you will find the peace of mind this product will offer for your next project.
What is the Yard Hydrant Made Easy, and what is its purpose?
*The YHME is a device to be installed when replacing an existing (2', 3', or 4') standard yard hydrant or when installing a new standard yard hydrant (Please note that the maximum bury depth of the YHME is 44" from the bottom of your water supply line to ground level, if you are in need of a deeper depth please contact us). Once installed, the next time the hydrant needs to be replaced no busting of concrete, tearing up of the yard, or excavation of any type, will be required. Not only will this help reduce the labor and frustration of digging up and replacing a leaking yard hydrant, but now options can be incorporated into the YHME that have never before been available in a packaged unit.
*Goff Plumbing & Heating Inc. is currently making 3 different models of the YHME and here is a list of the different features.

Construction
*The YHME is constructed using a 4" PVC outer housing riser with a modified pitless adapter installed in the side, below the freeze level of the ground. Your water supply line will attach to the inlet threads of the pitless adapter on the outside of the riser and the yard hydrant (of your choice) will be attached to the inside removable portion of the pitless adapter. The Removable portion of pitless adapter is threaded to the bottom of a yard hydrant then slides into the stationary portion of the pitless adapter at the bottom of the Yard Hydrant Made Easy housing for easy installation of the new hydrant. Also, the PVC outer housing helps to eliminate ground mineralization from attacking the steel riser pipe of the yard hydrant. This allows the hydrant to last longer and protects the weep or drain hole at the base of the hydrant from being stopped up with debris.
Drainage System
*The manufacturers of standard yard hydrants recommend backfilling around the base of the hydrant with rock to allow the water expelled from the weep hole to soak into the ground. (For more on this read your hydrant manufacturer's instruction manual.) Many hydrants installed get absolutely no rock to allow for seepage. This can cause the potential for freezing and hydrant damage to exist. YHME has a perforated drainage section in the bottom of the riser pipe to help prevent this potential problem. It is still recommended to place additional rock around the base of the YHME prior to backfill, even though the perforated section will allow for some seepage in the cases where no additional rock is added.
Code Requirements
*Certain local codes consider a standard yard hydrant as a source of possible water contamination due to the underground weep or drain hole. Some codes allow for the installation of a dual check valve backflow preventer ahead of a standard yard hydrant to protect the water source from contamination. Model #404 includes this dual check valve backflow preventer to protect the water supply to the yard hydrant. This allows the hydrant to meet this code requirement by protecting the domestic potable water supply with the trade off of recommending that you not drink the water that comes out of the hydrant. If you are not needing to comply with a code or do not need an underground shut-off to isolate the hydrant, Model #101 will fit your needs.
